Heute, genau vor einem Jahr, endete der 1. Internationale Cello-Wettbewerb „Anna Kull“ mit dem Galakonzert an der Grazer Oper, bei dem die Preisträger*innen der Wettbewerbskategorien II & III gemeinsam mit den Grazer Philharmonikern auf der Bühne standen. Was für ein spannender und genussvoller Abend!

Auch wenn das vergangene Jahr uns vor einige Herausforderungen gestellt hat, die auch den gesamten Kultursektor betroffen haben und nach wie vor betreffen, gibt es etwas, worauf wir voller Vorfreude blicken:

Das Konzert AUSGEZEICHNET_PLUS mit den 1. Preisträger*innen der Kategorie II & III Ettore Pagano (*2003) und Konstanze Pietschmann (*2000, DE) wird am 21. Oktober 2021 im Grazer Stefaniensaal (Congress Graz) gemeinsam mit den LGT Young Soloists stattfinden.

Sie werden ein buntes Programm präsentieren, das von Haydn, über Beethoven zu Pablo de Sarasate und Giovanni Sollima reicht. Im wunderschönen Ambiente des Grazer Stefaniensaals darf man sich auf frische Interpretationen, unter der Leitung des Violinisten und Mitbegründer des Ensembles Alexander Gilman, freuen.

Zufall? Am 21. Oktober 2021 wäre der 180. Geburtstag der Namensgeberin des Wettbewerbs Anna Kull. Sie wurde am 21. Oktober 1841 geboren.

Über den Wettbewerb …

Im Februar 2020 ging der Internationale Cello-Wettbewerb „Anna Kull“ erstmals über die Bühne. Die Kunstuniversität Graz wurde dabei zum Hotspot für Nachwuchsmusiker*innen auf ihrem Instrument, dem Cello! 70 Teilnehmer*innen aus 28 Nationen haben sich in drei Altersgruppen einer international renommierten Jury gestellt und rund 35 Stunden Cello-Musik waren während der zwei Wettbewerbswochen zu hören. Als Highlight des Wettbewerbs traten Preisträger*innen mit den Grazer Philharmonikern am 22. Februar 2020 in der Grazer Oper auf.

Exactly a year ago today, the gala concert of the International Cello Competition “Anna Kull” took place at the Opera Graz, with the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra and all prize winners of the age groups II & III. What a thrilling and enjoyable evening!

Even though the last year has been a challenge and the cultural sector had, and still is having, a hard time, we have something to be excited about:

The concert AUSGEZEICHNET_PLUS with 1^st prize winners of category II & III Ettore Pagano (*2003, IT) and Konstanze Pietschmann (*2000, DE) will take place on October 21, 2021 @Stefaniensaal Graz (Graz Congress), together with the LGT Young Soloists.

The program will consist of Haydn, Beethoven, Pablo de Sarasate & Giovanni Sollima and be presented under the guidance of violinist and co-founder of the LGT Young Soloists Alexander Gilman. What a wonderful program in the magnificent ambience of the Stefaniensaal we can look forward to!

Coincidence? October 21, 2021 would be the 180^th birthday of the competition’s namesake Anna Kull, who was born on October 21, 1841.

Facts about the competition:

In February 2020 (10-22), the 1st International Cello Comeptition “Anna Kull” took place at the Kunstuniversität Graz. Graz became a hub for young talents on their instrument – the cello! 70 participants of 28 nations performed in front of an internationally prestigious jury – two competition weeks and around 35 hours of cello music! As a highlight of the competition, prize winners performed together with the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra @Opera Graz on February 22, 2020.
